Officially Hermana Mac

One of the sweetest moments before Erin entered the MTC was being set apart as a missionary by President Christensen. Some of the counsel he shared included the following -

Become Panamanian - Love the people with your whole heart. Embrace their culture, their traditions, and their way of life so they never see an arrogant American looking down on them. You're not there to critique or judge. You're there to love, to serve, and to be a reflection of God's love.
Keep a simple journal - If writing every day feels overwhelming, don't stop altogether. Just record a few bullet points. Write down the miracle of the day and the laugh of the day. Look for the hand of God in your everyday experiences, and never lose your sense of humor—it will carry you through the challenging days.
Envision the end - President Christensen referenced a message from Elder Ronald A. Rasband and invited Erin to picture the person she hopes to become—not just at the end of her mission, but years down the road as a wife, mother, grandmother, and disciple of Jesus Christ. Work hard now. Make the most of every day so you become that future version of yourself.

He also pronounced beautiful blessings upon her:
The gift of tongues, to learn Spanish line upon line and to understand the language.
The ability to also learn the language of the Spirit and recognize the Lord's promptings.
A deeper relationship with her Heavenly Father and Savior, with the assurance that she is never alone.
The knowledge that her family is praying for her and cheering her on—from both sides of the veil.
Unity and love with companions and those she serves alongside.
The gift of helping others remember their Heavenly Father's plan of salvation.
Power to go forth and preach faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, and baptism.
A sure witness that Heavenly Father knows her personally and loves her perfectly.
